New to Shady Acres

Who Are We?

The Shady Acres family is made up of many diverse people from many backgrounds and walks of life, yet, we all claim unity and oneness in our common bond which is the salvation that comes through obedience to the Gospel of Jesus Christ the son of the living God.

It is how we are able to obtain and maintain the joy and fulfillment of a relationship with Christ and through His church that we want to share with our community and every person who desires to obey His teachings as proclaimed in the Holy Word of the Bible. We hope you will experience Shady Acres as a place where you will be challenged to grow in Christ, where our worship services are uplifting and the lessons are Bible-centered and practical, always recognizing that "God" really is the one who must receive all glory and praise.

As a local congregation of the church of Christ, we are committed to restoring the purity, passion, and simplicity of the New Testament church. We believe the Bible is inspired by God and is therefore our only authority in all matters of practicing our faith and lifestyles.

Our worship services are simply according to the New Testament teachings. They consist of singing (a cappella), praying, preaching, giving from the heart, and participating each week in the Lord's Supper as a memorial feast of love for Christ and each other.

We believe one is saved by God's amazing grace. We respond to that grace in heartfelt faith doing our utmost to obey and practice the commandments and teachings of the New Testament. We openly confess that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. We baptize believers by complete immersion in water in order to identify ourselves with the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ in full obedience to the message and command of Christ and His Gospel. Having obeyed through baptism, we receive the promises of forgiveness of sin and the gift of the Holy Spirit. God adds us to the one church belonging to Christ - His Kingdom on earth. So long as we remain faithful to Christ and His Church, we stay in the grace of God.

Biblical Worship

Most people notice that our worship is unique in two aspects: 1) our singing is unaccompanied by musical instruments, and, 2) we take the Lord’s Supper every Sunday.

We do not do these things uniquely just because we like them better in this manner. We do so because our study of Scripture has led us to believe that this is the way we can best honor our Lord.

Our worship services are also filled with biblical teaching (sermons), congregational singing, prayer, communion, and giving. You are more than welcome to attend a worship service and/or Bible class with us.

Our Mission

Our mission is to glorify God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ by obeying their will as revealed in the New Testament.

To teach and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world (Mark 16:15-16)

To help those in need, especially those of the household of faith (Galatians 6:10)

To live a life walking in the light of Jesus (1 John 1:7-8)

If your name is not written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, we plead with you to come, believing, repenting, confessing, and being baptized for the forgiveness of sins (Galatians 3:26-27; Acts 2:38; 8:35-40)

If your name is in the Lamb’s Book of Life, we plead with you to live your life in such a way that your name will never be blotted out (Revelation 2:10)
